Loveland, Colorado

We drove up US 285 on Thursday. It goes over three passes between 9000 and 10000 feet elevation. The interconnecting valleys are all at 8000 to 9000 feet and just beautiful. Most are high pastures, with horses and cows.

Then we dropped like a rock down to Denver, the mile high city. We picked up the freeways and headed north on I 25 to Loveland. We found an RV park on the Big Thompson River. We are under huge cottonwood trees, so no DSS reception tonight. We find that we are not watching much TV anyway. We are trying to get through the books we have. My next project is “Son of the Morning Star”, about Custer and the Little Big Horn. Ken Atkins lent it to me. The 130th anniversary of the famous battle is in just 3 days. Too bad we can’t be there for the event.

Friday we drove to just south of Cheyenne and met friends from the Backscratchers tribe of the Lazy Daze nation.

Agree...Picture is excellent. Must have been taken by Pris. When you get the Little Bighorn, I wonder if you can see, or get a sense of, the Rosebud to the East which Custer came up as he tried to circle around and keep the indians from "getting away." Ha! However, the Rosebud may be too far away. I'm curious whether the Rosebud valley has any recognition (markers, etc) noting Custer's advance from the Yellowstone. Are you planning venture up that valley as well?

The picture of John near the creek in previous entry...What was the fare? Two pots visible along with the hoisted Wine...??

I'm enjoying your travel log, but must respond to your previous entry. As a graduate of "that girls' school in Tallahassee", I must remind you that FSU was the only school with a winning record during the Gators "golden era" (the Coach Spurrier days). We may have started as a girls' school, but we've learned how to kick some Gator butt. Go Noles!

Glad to see that you were in Durango. I have fond memories of snow skiing at Purgatory and shopping for the Indian bow and arrows, peacepipe and tomahawk that hang in our home.
It looks as if the "other school in Florida" respondee is still hurting from the 34-7 butt whipping that Florida gave them last year. Charlie B.
